Our Lady of New Beginnings
From MargoOur Lady of New Beginnings wanted to be young from the first strokes of my brush. I was surprised by this, and tried to make her look older, but kept being led back to youth. Her face changed many times, transforming over and over… And then I realized that she wanted to communicate transformation and the possibilities that are present with new beginnings, even if they are unexpected or unwanted.
Having experienced the unexpected death of my first husband (I’m remarried now) many years ago when I was 34, he was 36, and our son was 5, I’ve lived through a dark night, eventually being led through the fires of transformation into a new beginning. This journey is represented by the bowl of fire and the butterfly woman as well as the vine with white flowers and the green sprig at her eyelid, which symbolize new life, growth, and hope. This painting holds many prayers for those who are grieving and in need of hope and the reassurance of a new beginning. It also carries the beauty and joy found in the poem message, which invites those who have been through loss to be vehicles of love and hope for others who are suffering. The poem mentions singing “the butterfly song” which I will share here as soon as I receive those lyrics. |
A MessageMy friend from dreamtime past and near,
be blessed in new moon light. Sit close beside me, rest your head, receive this poem tonight. Not long ago or far away in a time of peace and calm, we made a pact, you and me to be a healing balm. For souls that suffer stress and loss, for those whose spark has gone, we paint and pray, help lift the weight, we sing the butterfly song. We offer hope through eyes that see, with a heart that's been there too. Then with our hands we part the veil to breathe in deep renewal. With intention pure as golden light, we twirl and sing and bless. We lead the way, create the space for transformation’s dance. A joyful presence feeds the soul, helps fuel big change within. A new beginning opens doors that have never ever been. This sacred smoke alive tonight is like a crystal ball. Let’s light the fires of change and growth around this holy call. Her Journey |
